You buy it because it smells fine at the store. You get home, light it, and... nothing. The scent lives exclusively in the jar like it's paying rent in there and refusing to leave. Hey babe, I'm Cailee Rae.
Rae Handcrafted started because I couldn't find what I was looking for.
I wanted a scent that didn't smell like a department store trying to seem luxurious, or a health food store trying to seem clean. I wanted something that smelled like the life I was actually trying to build - like home.
So I started making them.
The candles, the oils…
First as a hobby, in my kitchen. Then in my studio, then in bigger batches because people kept asking, and at some point I stopped being surprised by that and started understanding it.
Which became an intentionally small business, made in limited batches, on purpose.
I didn't have a Pinterest-perfect home when I started. I had a kitchen, a hot plate, and the very stubborn belief that the space I lived in deserved to smell like something I actually chose.
I could make twice as many batches. I just can't make twice as many good batches. And I'm not interested in the other kind.
Everything here is 100% soy, every scent is something I'd burn in my own space and let my own clients breathe, which means paraffin is never, ever happening. I care too much about what goes into the air in a room that's meant for rest.
But more than the ingredients, what I actually make is a ritual in a jar.
Rae Handcrafted is a little piece of where a big part of my time and love quietly goes, for the woman who already knows that lighting a candle isn't really about the candle.
